Successful People Conference

Finally taking time to journal about the Successful People conference in SLC on the 14-15 Mar 08. I saw so many of my new friends and we got to hear some wonderful speakers.

Richard Paul Evans (Rick) told a story about World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. The moral of the story was to never give up and that when you are on your Heavenly Father's Mission and someone or something gets in the way he will open a back door to be able to proceed. I love to hear his stories.

Robert G. Allen (Bob) discussed the WriteWise Program and some changes that are being made. Writers everywhere! Now there is hope of being published. The WriteWise Program makes it possible not only to be published but to be mentored completely through the whole process. What time and money will be saved for these new authors. The price is only about a 1/3 of what usually has to be forked out for just hoping that your manuscript will be read. Bob also talked to us about our fears and how to overcome them. Tom Painter taught us all about money and how much certain things (like our weaknesses and addictions) are costing us over a few years' time. He brought his Dad to explain how he has taught the Grandchildren about saving money and investing it. We also learned how much compound interest makes over a period of time.

Dan McCormick, author of Lessons from Great Lives, gave an inspiring speech about the people in his book and what made them great and how to apply that to our lives.

Bookwise Permeates My Soul!

I am a cotton farmer's granddaughter! My grandparents farmed cotton in Lamesa, Texas where the soil is red. I am proud of my Texas heritage!

John Grisham wrote a book called the Painted House. It was about a cotton farm in the south. What a nostalgic book. It was just like the stories that my mother told me. What power books have to touch the senses and take us to places that we only remember from a time long forgotten. I love books! That's why I joined Bookwise.

I owned a flower shop in Layton, Utah. I signed my lease the day of 9/11. Business was bad for about a year until people stopped being afraid and started venturing out again. It was affecting my health and my relationships and all the money was going back into the business. When I discovered I had high blood pressure on top of my diabetes, I closed the shop to concentrate on Bookwise and my family.

What a wonderful year it has been! I get to be taught by Richard Paul Evans (Rick) and Robert G. Allen. I see and talk with them every month and get to hear them on teleconferences several times a week. My life has been transformed by this experience.
